- [Instructor] In many cases, linking a Visio diagram to a single data source is sufficient, but if the data you want to incorporate into your diagram resides in multiple locations, or even in multiple types of data sources, Visio is up to the task. Let's start by looking at two different data sources. First is server data and Excel. Notice column A, the network name. That's the key that we'll use to link these rows of data to the shapes in the Visio diagram. Let's close this workbook and look at network equipment data in Access. We see data for a wireless access point and a one gigabit router. Here's the diagram to which we'll link data. At the moment, the shapes in the diagram contain just one data field with a value in it, the network name. On the data tab is the Custom Import button. In previous versions of Visio, this button was labeled Link Data to Shapes. Either way, when you click it, you see the Data Selector Wizard. We will choose Excel as our data source type. Click Next…
