- [Instructor] Hi everybody. Before we get into the rest of the course, let's do some quick expectation settings so that you know what you're getting into. First, we're going to be learning MySQL database administration using MySQL Workbench. The important thing here is that even though you may use other flavors of SQL throughout your career, everything that you learn in this course is going to be very applicable. So some of the flavors are slightly different, but they're all based on the same universal syntax, and these same concepts will be very valuable regardless of what flavor you end up using down the road. The focus of this course is going to be on DBA activities, so we're going to be focusing on creating and maintaining databases. We're going to be talking about automation, about security best practices. So we're going to focus on the DBA side and less on the analytics side. This is an advanced level course.
