- A year after the Agile Manifesto at an extreme programming conference, the chairman of a consulting company called The Standards Group reported one of its key findings. The company interviewed people who were using their customers' software products. They asked a simple question. How often do you use this product's functions and features? Then they presented their findings in a pie chart. What they found was that most people never or rarely used 64% of the functions and features in their product. In fact, people typically used only about 20% of the software's functions and features. So software development projects were spending most of their time working on functions and features that the customer would rarely or never use.
