For Project 9 you will have to use the Pathfinder feature, which you can find in the Properties panel, you just have to make sure you select both the Circle and the M characters, and then from Pathfinder you would want to use the option here on the right called Exclude Overlap. Once you click on this, you should get the same result as below, and this will result in a single object so when I click on this once again it's now an individual object so it merges those two shapes together. Now we can apply the swatch that's defined here so we can go to the fill options and go into color and we can change to CMYK so we can just type this is what I'll use in so 100, 5, 30, and and zero. It should be this nice teal color, you can even save this as a swatch if you want.
