It's also important to know the differences between the file formats that we normally would use in a print design project. Now it might be a bit tricky to categorize the file formats but essentially they would be falling into three main groups. First is the working or project files that allows you to go back and make changes to a design. So for Photoshop it would be the PSD or Photoshop document, for Illustrator it would be AI and for InDesign it would be the INDD file format or InDesign document. The next category are the assets that you would use in a design project and these would be predominantly image file formats including both pixel or roster and vector images but there can be also text files or excel files in case of a catalog for example and last but not least the final category would be the print ready files and most of the time these would be pdfs or eps files.
