- By definition career management is taking deliberate steps in order to ensure long term career success. Often times for administrative support professionals, we are working to help ensure, the success of those we support at the neglect of our own career aspirations. This doesn't have to be the case. Instead, we can help those we support achieve their goals, while ensuring we are taking control of our professional future. Career management is important for the following reasons. First, taking control over your career. This is not up to your employer. It is helpful if they provide tools that can aid you as you move forward, but the ultimate responsibility rests with you individually. When you take charge in this area, you can move in the direction of your vision, and not one that is imposed upon you.
