Simulating and monitoring the print process

- [Female Instructor] Any means of manufacturing a part will cause some departures from the ideal representation of a part in a CAD program. If we want to control exactly what the final real physical part will look like, we want to take those differences into account. Simulating a part before printing may save time and money, however, accurately simulating any 3D print during the actual process of printing is challenging. There are simulations that are meant to optimize the build process, and ones that are meant to optimize the end use part. Here we'll look at simulations to optimize the printing process, which are available in varying degrees of fidelity. They may be tied tightly into CAD or slicing software, or be more decoupled. Some of what we discuss here are more in the line of productivity tools, but they require some prediction of the print process, so we'll include them here. There are also simulations that are…
