- I had a woman recently ask me, Adrienne, this might seem like a weird question, but how do I get more comfortable at networking events? The truth is there are a lot of people who are intimidated with the process of actually walking into a room and trying to sell themselves at one of these events. Now, for some of you, this might be as natural as drinking water. You go in, and you just never have met a stranger, you can introduce yourself with confidence. But there are three things that I'd say are true of every networking event. The first is there are a lot of people in the room, so it can be intimidating to some of the less social members of the population. The second thing is, when you're networking, usually the motivation is, what am I going to get out of this? There has to be a payoff, because you're going into a situation that can be socially stressful or at least high pressure for a number of people. And the…
