- [Instructor] While the ability to generate PDFs is built into some software, as we saw earlier with Microsoft Word, not all applications have this ability, but you can still generate PDFs from just about any application that has a print command. For example, I have a simple text document opened in Notepad and Windows here, and Notepad has no PDF generating capabilities of its own. Notice if I go to to File, and choose Save As, there's no option here to save this as a PDF. So I'll cancel that, and, instead, I'm going to go to File, Print. And because Acrobat is installed on this computer, it also installed a virtual printer called Adobe PDF, which I have selected here. I can then click Preferences if I want to customize how this PDF is generated in some basic ways.
