- You're walking out of a job interview, and you breathe a giant sigh of relief. It's over. Oh, but it's not over. You may be done with the actual meeting, but the hours, days, and sometimes even weeks after an interview can be crucial, and even if you walk out knowing you're not a fit for that role, you should end on a strong and professional note. Here are a few smart ways to follow up after the interview. First, the thank-you note. This is a non-negotiable. Thank you matters, and if it's a tight race between you and someone else, it could come down to who sent the thank-you note. No kidding.
