- You're going to have far more ideas and interesting discussions when you encourage collaboration. And here are three good ways to do this. Use structured discussion formats, like round-robin brainstorming, fishbowl discussions, or small group breakout sessions to ensure that everyone has a chance to participate and share their ideas. Make sure you set clear ground rules for participation and facilitate the discussion to ensure equitable opportunities for input. What is round-robin brainstorming? I hear you ask. Well, it's a kind of brainstorming that really does allow all voices to be heard, and there's reflection in there too. So what you do is you state the problem or area where you want more ideas, and first, each person sketches out their own solutions or ideas, and then these get passed around the round-robin with everyone adding to each person's idea.
