- We don't like to be uncomfortable, do we? In fact, we will naturally do everything in our power to avoid it, but that's not helpful when it comes to learning and growing and truly embracing change. For that, we need to learn to tolerate discomfort and teach ourselves to adapt. What if I set you a task right now that invited you to prepare a song of your choice and then perform it? What would be going through your mind? How might you be feeling? Well, depending on the extent to which you might be a professional singer, most of us would feel uncomfortable, and the trick here is to not feel so uncomfortable that you're in panic. The discomfort has to be manageable and you want to be in this learning or growth zone often, and this is one of the most powerful things you can do to teach yourself, to adapt, to change.
