How does a video call from your smartphone seamlessly connect to someone on a laptop, a tablet or even an old-fashioned landline phone? Behind the scenes of all modern networks, we have the Universal Architectural Framework which is IP Multimedia Subsystem or IMS. IMS had certain roles to play whereas it provides a standardized multimedia services. Each service such as voice, video, messaging before IMS was a separate proprietary system. IMS provides a standardized all IP platform to deliver a full suite of real-time multimedia services. This includes voice over LTE, voice over 5G or video calling. ensures that these services work reliably and consistently across different devices.
