Now, we have seen how telecom technologies have evolved rapidly, but this evolution doesn't happen randomly. It is guided and shaped by international standards and specifications, which make sure that networks and devices across the globe speak the same language. Let's look at some of the key standard bodies that play a central role in defining and evolving involving telecom technologies. Two of them are ITU which is International Telecommunication Union and 3GPP which is 3rd generation partnership project. ITU is a United Nations agency which is responsible for setting the vision and global requirements for each generation of mobile technology. It defines overall concepts, performance targets, use cases and deliverables. For example, ITU defines what 5G must deliver, like ultra-low latency, high data rates, what could be the speeds and latency, and massive IoT connectivity.
