Power control mechanisms in 4G LTE
Imagine you are in a crowded room. If you shout, you disturb others. It's like interference. If you whisper, no one hears you, which is like a weak signal. LTE powers control is like a smart volume knob, which adjusts your phone voice to be just right for the tower. Why are playing power control matters? Because it prevents interference, nearby users overpowering the distant ones. It saves battery life because no unnecessary high-power transmission happens in this case, and it maintains the signal quality to ensure reliable calls and data. Now, there are different types of power control. One is open-loop power control, another is a closed-loop power control. When do we use open-loop power control? It is used at the initial connection, for example, when your phone powers on. In this case, the tower sends a reference signal at a fixed power. Your phone measures the path loss.
