Ever streaming a Netflix movie or uploading a video via your mobile phone, there could be the 4G technology that comes into action. 4G could be working behind the scenes to provide you the services which are really fast and having a very low delay. Now, what are the capabilities of 4G technology and what it can provide to the consumers? Let's understand the key capabilities in technical terms, starting with the peak data rate. That means how much data speed can be provided to the users from the 4G base stations. So 4G base station can provide up to 1 Gbps of data speed. It means 1 gigabit per second to be transmitted from the base station towards the user. But wait, that's the cell level speed. That is what is coming from the antenna or from the base station. But how fast the user get the speed? So International Telecommunication Union says that there should be a 10 Mbps of downlink speed at the user level under normal conditions.
