Merging scenes

- [Instructor] One of the most important commands for scene layout, is merge. That gives us the ability to combine multiple 3ds Max scenes. You will generally want to model things in their own scenes and then merge them into a primary scene, which is the layout scene. I've got the layout scene here ready to go, and I want to merge in some other models. I'll go to the file menu, to the import menu, we'll see that there are a bunch of commands here. The primary distinction is between import and merge. Import is for non-native file formats, or foreign file formats, those are 3D formats from some other program, or some generic formats such as an OBJ file. Merge is only for 3ds Max.max scene files. And this is what you want to use, if you're combining Max scenes, because all of the data in that Max scene will be preserved in the current layout scene.
