Adding edges with Cut

Adding edges with Cut

- [Instructor] The courtyard model is shaping up, but it actually has some topology issues that are not immediately obvious. We can fix those problems using the Cut tool. The problem is something called concave polygons, and that's when two connected edges have an internal angle of greater than 180 degrees. Let's take a look on the model. Here is an ordinary polygon that's a straight up quadrilateral, and it's got an edge here. And then it's got its connected edge, and the angle between those two edges on the interior of the polygon is 90 degrees. That's a convex polygon, but its neighbor, this other polygon here that's kind of a U-shape, that is a concave polygon. This edge here and it's connected edge have an internal angle of 270 degrees. That's greater than 180, and this is a concave polygon. And 3ds Max will allow a concave polygon, but that doesn't mean that it's going to work well or that it's not going to cause problems. The same thing goes for a polygon that actually has a…
