Overview

Dexian Talent Development is seeking an experienced UX/UI designer to serve as Subject Matter Expert and Instructor for a 4-week virtual workshop designed for recent graduates of the Detroit Apple Academy and Renaissance programs. This is a hands-on instructional role focused on practical skill-building, portfolio development, and professional readiness.

Engagement Details

Curriculum: Flexible between April 15, 2026 – May 15, 2026. Approximately XXX hours total

Instruction Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, 6:00–10:00 PM Eastern

Duration: June 8 – July 2, 2026

Format: Virtual instruction

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver focused curriculum across four core areas: Figma tools and workflows, accessibility principles and standards, project-based design exercises, and portfolio presentation and communication skills
• Facilitate engaging virtual sessions that meet learners where they are and build toward job-readiness
• Design practical, hands-on exercises that reinforce real-world design practice
• Support learners in developing and presenting portfolio-ready work
• Provide feedback and guidance on student projects throughout the engagement

Note: Curriculum development scope is light — materials should be practical, reusable, and appropriately scoped to a 4-week engagement.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of professional UX/UI design experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in Figma
• Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG or equivalent)
• Prior teaching experience strongly preferred; mentorship or coaching backgrounds will also be considered
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate professional design practice into clear, learner-centered instruction
• Comfortable facilitating in a virtual environment and engaging adult learners
