Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications leads the execution of integrated marketing, communications and storytelling efforts for the Office of Strategy & Innovation (OSI). Reporting to the Managing Director, this role translates OSI strategy into high-quality communications that build visibility, deepen engagement and support innovation, partnership and resource development across the university and beyond.
This role is highly collaborative and embedded—working closely with OSI leadership, Belmont Innovation Labs, Institutional Effectiveness and external partners to ensure communications are clear, compelling, aligned and impactful. The Senior Manager plays a critical role in shaping how OSI’s work is understood, experienced and valued by internal and external stakeholders. This role will collaborate consistently with University Communications and Marketing and the Office of the President.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Management and Comprehensive Marketing Execution Lead execution of brand-aligned marketing and communications across the Office of Strategy & Innovation. Translate OSI strategic priorities into integrated marketing and communications plans, in partnership with the Managing Director. Ensure brand fidelity, consistency of tone and alignment across OSI portfolios, including Belmont Innovation Labs and Institutional Effectiveness, while supporting clear differentiation where needed. Oversee day-to-day execution of OSI’s marketing presence across digital and print channels, including website, email, social media, publications, collateral and event materials. Manage end-to-end execution of marketing and communications campaigns, from planning through delivery and evaluation. Coordinate and manage external vendors, creative partners and internal collaborators to deliver high-quality assets on time and on brand. Implement defined stakeholder journeys and supporting tools and processes in alignment with office-wide systems and priorities. Track and report on communications metrics and outcomes to support continuous improvement and leadership decision-making.
Internal Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Lead execution of internal communications that reinforce OSI priorities and support a culture of innovation across Belmont University. Develop and deliver internal communications that increase awareness, clarity and engagement around OSI’s work and innovation initiatives. Use storytelling and messaging to help faculty, staff and students understand how innovation happens at Belmont and how they can participate. Support executive communications for OSI leadership, including drafting messaging, presentations, pitch decks and reports for senior stakeholders such as the President, University Executive Team and Board of Trust. Partner with Institutional Effectiveness to coordinate messaging and support the design and production of the annual Institutional Effectiveness report.
Innovation Labs Storytelling and Campaign Execution Embed within Belmont Innovation Labs projects to provide strategic storytelling and marketing execution that advances systems change, strengthens cross-sector collaboration and increases visibility for lab outcomes. Collaborate closely with Innovation Labs leadership and project teams to develop communications and storytelling plans aligned to lab goals, project milestones and intended outcomes. Translate complex, systems-level work into clear, human-centered narratives that resonate with cross-sector partners, funders, sponsors and collaborators. Lead execution of end-to-end storytelling and marketing campaigns tied to lab projects and outcomes, ensuring consistent, high-quality visibility across channels. Develop communications assets and narratives that support partnership development, funding conversations, grant writing and future engagement opportunities. Lead storytelling and marketing efforts that support the recruitment, visibility and impact of the Social Innovation Fellows, ensuring the program is clearly positioned and compelling to prospective participants and stakeholders. Produce impact reports, case studies and storytelling materials for donors, grantors and key stakeholders.
Strategic Convenings and External Engagement Support communications and experience design for OSI-led convenings and external engagements. Develop and execute communications for strategic gatherings with external partners, ensuring experiences are clear, compelling and user-centered. Support convenings such as the Hope Summit, Impact Tables, fundraising events and related engagements, in coordination with OSI and Innovation Labs leadership. Ensure convening communications align with broader OSI messaging, storytelling and donor stewardship efforts.
