Role: Principal Data, Analytics & AI Architect
Location: Portland, OR (Onsite / Hybrid)
Role Overview
This role is a senior technical and domain leadership position for the Data Platform (DP) built on Snowflake. The architect will act as a thought leader across data warehousing, analytics modernization, and AI‑driven insights, with strong grounding in healthcare domain.
Key Responsibilities
Data Warehousing & Platform Architecture
Own and guide OLAP and dimensional modeling decisions and tradeoffs for analytical use cases.
Be hands-on with advanced SQL patterns, performance tuning, and cost-aware design on Snowflake.
Shape end‑to‑end data warehousing architecture on Snowflake, covering modeling, performance, cost, and scalability.
Apply and evolve modern architecture patterns including medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) and domain‑driven analytics design.
Define ETL / ELT strategies aligned to cloud‑native architectures.
Guide decisions on data quality, governance, and analytics readiness.
Analytics & BI Modernization
Drive architectural direction for analytics modernization, including:
Greenplum → Snowflake (CDP) migration strategy and sequencing
Tableau → Sigma migration and rationalization
Define semantic‑layer‑first approaches to enable governed, AI‑ready analytics.
Lead rationalization initiatives to reduce redundancy and simplify the analytics landscape.
AI‑Driven Insights & Agents (Healthcare‑Focused)
Lead AI‑first analytics design, especially for healthcare use cases (Stars, quality, operations, performance).
Design and influence Insights Agents / conversational analytics, grounded in strong semantic models.
Evaluate and guide adoption of modern AI platforms and LLMs (e.g., Claude‑class models).
Influence how AI is used to improve analyst productivity and insight turnaround time.
Roadmaps, POVs & Transformation Journeys
Run rapid 2 to 3 week POCs to validate ideas and influence decisions.
Operate independently in evolving problem spaces and bring clarity through prototypes and options.
Build multi‑year data, analytics, and AI roadmaps aligned to client’s platform strategy.
Shape transformation journeys—including migrations and future‑state capabilities.
Lead rapid POCs / POVs to validate ideas and influence stakeholder decisions.
Domain‑Driven Thought Leadership
Build deep understanding of client’s healthcare data landscape and domains.
Apply domain context to architecture, analytics design, and AI use cases.
Act as a trusted advisor to client leaders—presenting options, trade‑offs, and recommendations clearly.
Required Skills & Experience
15+ years in data warehousing, analytics, and enterprise data architecture.
Strong expertise in:
Data warehousing & dimensional modeling
ETL / ELT architectures
Medallion architecture
Deep hands‑on experience with Snowflake.
Hands-on working experience with Snowflake Cortex.
Good understanding of GenAI and prompt engineering fundamentals.
Strong SQL and data modeling judgment.
Proven leadership in large‑scale analytics and data transformation programs.
Strong healthcare data & analytics experience.
Comfortable operating as a technical thought leader, not a people or delivery manager.
Self-learning and exploratory mindset with ability to operate independently.
Nice to Have
dbt for analytics engineering
Airflow or similar orchestration platforms
AWS and cloud‑native data services
Cortex Analyst
Exposure to LLM‑based analytics (e.g., Claude‑class models)
