Security Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Security Engineering-related occupation.
• Position requires 2 years of experience in the following:
• Threat modeling or Security architecture review;
• Coding in a general purpose programming language or Scripting for security automation;
• Security assessments or Vulnerability analysis;
• Detection and response or Security monitoring and response; and
• Incident management or Incident response.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000 - $211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Position reports to the Google Austin, TX office and may allow for a hybrid schedule per Google policy.

Responsibilities

• Identify security vulnerabilities and analyze active threats to inform response and mitigation strategies.
• Design and implement robust security controls, tools, and services to enhance system and process security.
• Operate information security systems and execute established procedures to respond to potential threats. Contribute significant features and bug fixes to existing security tools and products
• Own complex, short-lived operational tasks from inception to completion, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and escalate complex issues to appropriate teams when necessary.
