About the Role
As the Safety Director, you’ll provide strategic leadership across multiple sites, guiding the development, execution, and continuous improvement of safety programs in a complex, high‑risk industrial environment. You’ll partner closely with operations leadership, coach site‑level safety teams, and drive initiatives that strengthen compliance, reduce exposure, and elevate safety culture across the organization.

Responsibilities
• Provide strategic direction for safety programs and lead efforts to build and sustain a strong safety culture
• Partner with operations leadership to integrate safety into planning, execution, and decision‑making • Identify and reduce high‑risk exposures through proactive controls, assessments, and mitigation strategies
• Oversee the development and implementation of safety policies, systems, procedures, and training
• Ensure consistent identification, evaluation, and control of safety and health risks across facilities • Monitor regulatory changes and industry trends; adjust programs and strategies accordingly
• Lead, coach, and develop safety managers to strengthen organizational capability and consistency
• Drive accountability for safety performance through clear expectations, communication, and follow‑up
• Support audits, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous‑improvement initiatives
• Serve as a primary interface with regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements
• Coordinate priorities across multiple sites and functions to ensure alignment and execution
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered
• 10+ years of safety leadership experience in a heavy‑industrial, manufacturing, or mining environment
• 7+ years working with MSHA, OSHA, FMCSA, or a combination
• Proven experience supervising and developing safety professionals
• Skilled in leading change, influencing at all levels, and driving cross‑functional alignment
Required Skills
• Deep knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and high‑hazard industrial safety practices
• Experience leading multi‑site safety programs in manufacturing or mining
• Strong capability in audits, investigations, and risk assessments
• Ability to coach and influence both leadership and hourly teams
• Strong documentation, communication, and continuous‑improvement skills
