The Manager Corporate Communications supports the development and execution of integrated communications strategies and public relations initiatives that promote and protect JetBlue’s brand and reputation. The role partners closely with internal teams including Brand, Product, Marketing, Social, and Network to support communications campaigns, media relations, executive visibility opportunities, and strategic storytelling initiatives.
The Manager is responsible for developing proactive communications plans, supporting reactive communications needs, and helping position JetBlue’s culture, products, customer experience, and business initiatives across earned, digital, and social media channels.
Essential Responsibilities:
Build strategic, integrated communications plans that apply creative tactics that use a variety of communication channels, including media relations, digital and social, internal communications, and video
Shape stories and messages that resonate with customers, media, influencers, and social followers
Develop communications strategy that elevates JetBlue as a leading company, within the industry and beyond
Counsel and advise JetBlue leaders on communications approaches
Create strategy for programs and events that gain high level media interest
Maintain and develop strong traditional and online media relationships; pitch story ideas, staff interviews, and shape stories with relevant media
Track relevant industry news and trends to identify opportunities
Develop and edit materials such as communications plans, fact sheets, news and online media materials, bylined articles and presentations
Identify executive visibility and speaking opportunities for JetBlue leaders and prepare spokespeople for media interviews and speaking engagements
Manage consumer PR agency day-to-day activity
Manage projects to completion, including coordinating across internal functions
Collaborate with brand marketing, social media, and customer support social media teams to develop integrated storytelling and social/digital content that captures a consumer, lifestyle, and travel audience
Demonstrate familiarity with leading media monitoring and social listening platforms; analyze, measure and report on media coverage and social engagement
Jump in to support reactive communications needs, including airline crisis and issues events, as needed
Take a significant role in the development of Crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or in a relevant field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
Five (5) years of related communications experience
Previous project management experience
Able to demonstrate critical thinking and communication skills through a work sample task
Strong team orientation and interpersonal skills; collaborative approach across functions and teams
Motivated self-starter, demonstrates attention to detail within a fast-paced environment
Experience engaging in social networks, digital media, online forums and/or blogging
Available for occasional overnight travel (30%)
Currently in possession of a valid passport or equivalent to travel in and out of the United States
Comfortable working directly with Senior Leadership and cross-functional teams
Ability to work flexible hours and be available for emergency response on short notice
Must be available occasionally for unplanned events, including incident and crisis response
Ability to create PowerPoint presentations and plans, and general use of Microsoft Office suite
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to meet multiple and/or tight deadlines
Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
Seven (7) years of communications experience
Experience working in a public relations or communications agency
History of supporting well-known brands
Travel and tourism, airline, and aviation experience

Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

Identify safety and security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation:
The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
