Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Backend Engineer to support modernization and cloud transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on engineer with strong backend development expertise, event-driven architecture experience, and a passion for building scalable, resilient systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade backend applications using Java.
• Lead and contribute to modernization initiatives, working closely with development teams on architecture, design, and implementation.
• Build and support microservices-based applications and distributed systems.
• Drive containerization and cloud onboarding efforts for existing and new services.
• Promote and implement event-driven architectures using Kafka.
• Lead adoption of modern DevOps practices, including GitLab CI/CD pipelines, M1 pipelines, and release automation.
• Champion modern testing strategies, including automated testing and quality engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions.
• Establish and promote engineering standards, best practices, and design patterns.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience in Java backend development.
• Extensive experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Redis Cluster.
• Strong messaging systems background and distributed systems knowledge.
• Solid understanding of Microservices Architecture.
• Experience with containerization technologies and cloud platforms.
• Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD, release automation, and DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, testing methodologies, and engineering best practices.
• Ability to mentor developers and provide technical leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on large-scale modernization or cloud migration programs.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native application development.
• Experience in enterprise financial services or highly regulated environments is a plus.
