The Foster Care Therapist is responsible for providing approved therapeutic interventions to clients and families to support identified behavioral and emotional changes. This role also assists with case coordination and resource linkage for clients and involved parties including family members, DCS, court personnel, and non-relative supports as needed. The therapist works closely with families requiring guidance and support while promoting positive outcomes for children and families involved in foster care services.
Responsibilities
Provide approved therapeutic interventions to clients and families
Assist with case coordination and resource linkage for clients and involved parties
Collaborate with family members, DCS, court personnel, and community supports
Maintain thorough documentation and case records
Utilize knowledge of child development and therapeutic interventions to support treatment goals
Support families requiring structure, guidance, and behavioral support
Work flexible hours consistent with program needs
Provide services across multiple locations as required
Maintain CPR and First Aid certification requirements
Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a discipline allowing mental health licensure in Tennessee
CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification prior to working with clients
Thorough knowledge of child development and therapeutic interventions
Experience working with families in need of support and direction
Ability to work flexible hours based on program needs
Ability to work across multiple service locations
