Role Description This is a part-time, remote Financial Controller role responsible for overseeing core financial activities that support Tyson Fresh Meats’ operations. The Financial Controller will manage the monthly close process, review and prepare financial statements, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in line with company policies and applicable regulations. Daily tasks include monitoring general ledger activity, reconciling key accounts, analyzing financial performance, and preparing variance and trend analyses for leadership. The role will also support budgeting and forecasting, develop and refine financial controls, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and cost management. In addition, the Financial Controller will assist in audit preparation, maintain documentation for internal and external stakeholders, and identify opportunities to enhance financial transparency and decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Strong Accounting and Finance skills, including solid understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and cost accounting practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, including preparing, reviewing, and interpreting income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Advanced Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, conduct variance and trend analyses, and provide clear, data-driven recommendations.
  • Proficiency with financial systems and tools (e.g., ERP platforms, Excel, and reporting software), with the ability to streamline and automate financial processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote, part-time environment.
  • Clear, professional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience in manufacturing or food production environments, and familiarity with inventory and cost-of-goods-sold accounting, is a plus.
