AeroSpec is seeking a Development Engineer to lead the assembly, integration, testing, and commissioning of custom automation and test equipment across medical, automotive, and semiconductor industries. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bridging design and reality—turning engineered concepts into fully functioning systems.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and support assembly, wiring, integration, and commissioning of automated equipment
Own system development from build → integration → debug → testing → customer buy-off
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to analyze designs vs. requirements
Develop and execute system-level test plans, risk mitigation strategies, and acceptance procedures
Lead Pre-FAT and FAT activities, including documentation and customer interaction Identify and troubleshoot system issues across mechanical, electrical, and controls domains
Work closely with engineering, production, and operations teams to resolve build challenges
Support hardware commissioning (HMI, servos, drives, sensors, temperature/flow controllers, etc.)
Track and manage system issues using internal tools and workflows
Coordinate updates to drawings, BOMs, and documentation through redlines and change processes
Drive development of Operator & Maintenance manuals with cross-functional input Ensure systems meet customer requirements, schedule, and budget targets
Lead the installation and transition to customer sites, world-wide
Requirements
2+ years of experience in automation, system integration, or equipment development
Bachelor's of Engineering or Science Degree
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems
Experience with system integration, debug, and commissioning of complex equipment
Ability to interpret design specifications, schematics, and software requirements
Hands-on troubleshooting skills across multiple engineering disciplines
Experience developing test plans, acceptance procedures, and validation protocols Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Basic robotic or PLC programming a plus.
SolidWorks experience a plus.
