Off-duty public safety is a large, fragmented category still run mostly on paper, spreadsheets, and outsourced coordinators. About the Role:

Are you a technically savvy accounting operations rising star? Are you looking for a golden opportunity to be the financial cornerstone of a SaaS payments/fintech company? As the Controller, partnering directly with the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for improving and maintaining the accounting function with best-in-class “AI First” technology for automation and designing processes for optimal performance at scale. You will own and manage the full scope of tactical and strategic accounting operations, and you’ll do this in our incredibly fast-paced, exciting, and constantly changing environment. The Controller will help develop our data and results more quickly and with greater accuracy, helping provide the visibility that the leadership team needs to make strategic decisions, all while strengthening our internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

• Building and leading RollKall’s accounting function with an “AI First” mentality, including the development and implementation of policies, processes, and systems.
• Owning all aspects of accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, technical accounting, revenue recognition, billing, collections, tax, and payroll.
• Leading the monthly financial close process, efficiently generating GAAP-compliant financial results and reporting.
• Leading the implementation, integration, and management of our financial systems to streamline the financial close and reporting process while ensuring the reliability and accuracy of financial data.
• Further developing and continually maintaining a system of documented accounting policies and procedures, and researching new accounting topics as necessary.
• Leading the first annual audit and managing RollKall’s external auditors.
• Managing the federal, state, and local tax compliance function, leveraging external tax service providers and tools to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Communicating effectively across all areas of the business to support our internal clients and advance the development and scaling of the accounting function.
• Crafting and implementing internal control policies around procurement and T&E
• Partnering with HR on all aspects of employee documentation, compliance, and payroll.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
• Active CPA license.
• 10+ years of experience in accounting and/or auditing.
• At least two years in a Controller seat.
• At least four years leading the month-end close process and internal reporting.
• Must live within 1 hour of Eastern Time (ET).
• “AI First” mentality; you use enterprise AI in all aspects of what you do and are responsible for.
• Experience working with and reporting to PE investors for at least two years.
• Expertise with all areas of the monthly close process, inclusive of billings, accruals, consolidations, analytical review, and account reconciliations.
• Experience building infrastructure within the accounting function, specifically accounting system implementation and additional tools for AP automation, expense reporting, reconciliation tools, etc.
• Proficiency with current GAAP, especially revenue recognition, ASC 606, and key areas pertinent to SaaS companies.
• Superior people management skills and ability to identify strong talent.
• Excellent writing, communication, and people skills — accounting is a numbers game, but businesses are built by empowering people with information.
• Strong Excel and data management skills.

Preferred:

• Experience with industry-leading ERP systems, such as NetSuite and Intacct.
• Expertise in managing and joining large, disparate data sets.
• Experience in a rapid-growth SaaS or payments/fintech company.
