Commissioning (CX) Manager – Mission Critical GC

Mississippi, United States

A leading general contractor in the US data center market, with a major pipeline of hyperscale and mission-critical projects, is looking to strengthen commissioning leadership across active campuses as projects move through critical commissioning and turnover phases.

This is a contractor with a serious footprint in hyperscale infrastructure. Multiple campuses are live, with additional projects coming online continuously. The focus now is ensuring systems are commissioned correctly, integrated properly, and fully operational before client handover.

They’re hiring Commissioning (CX) Managers for a major mission-critical project in Mississippi.

These are field-based leadership roles embedded directly within live data center builds. You’ll lead and coordinate the commissioning process across mechanical, electrical, controls, and life safety systems while working closely with construction teams, subcontractors, vendors, commissioning agents, and clients.

The role sits at the intersection of construction, commissioning, and operations readiness. You’ll be responsible for driving the CX process from equipment startup and pre-functional testing through integrated systems testing and final turnover, ensuring systems perform as intended under live operating conditions.

This is not a purely administrative position. You’ll be active in the field, overseeing testing activities, walking systems, managing issue resolution, reviewing documentation, and ensuring deficiencies are identified and closed before handover.

The expectation is that you’ve delivered commissioning on data center or other mission-critical facilities before. You understand how complex MEP systems interact, how construction quality impacts commissioning outcomes, and how important structured testing and turnover processes are within high-availability environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site-based commissioning activities across mission-critical projects
  • Manage the commissioning process from mechanical completion through final client turnover
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, OEMs, and third-party commissioning agents
  • Oversee pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing (IST) activities
  • Review commissioning scripts, procedures, and testing documentation
  • Track and manage commissioning issues, deficiencies, and turnover punch lists
  • Ensure systems are installed, tested, and operating in line with design intent and operational requirements
  • Drive schedule alignment between construction, startup, and commissioning milestones
  • Support client witnessing, demonstrations, and final handover activities
  • Maintain accurate reporting on commissioning progress, risks, and system readiness
  • Ensure quality and consistency across all commissioning deliverables

This is a full-time site-based position in Mississippi, with daily on-site presence expected throughout the commissioning and turnover phases.

It’s a straightforward brief. Make sure systems are fully tested, operational, and ready before they’re handed over.
