Assistant Fund Controller

Overview

Our client, a top-tier global alternative asset manager, is looking to add a Fund Finance hire at either the Finance Manager (5–7 yrs) or Assistant Controller (7–10 yrs) level depending on experience.

This is a high-visibility seat supporting a flagship investment platform with exposure across the full fund lifecycle — capital activity, reporting, and deal execution. The group is lean, sharp, and works closely with senior leadership (Controller + upper management).

Target profile is Big 4 + mega-fund pedigree — think candidates currently sitting at large institutional PE shops ($50B+ AUM) or auditors coming out of heavily PE-focused books.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end fund accounting in partnership with external administrators (heavy review, not data entry)
• Review and validate:
• Financial statements + disclosures
• Capital calls / distributions
• Investor allocations + waterfall calculations
• Act as key point of contact with fund admins to ensure accuracy + timeliness
• Partner directly with deal teams on fundings, exits, and valuation support
• Interface with Investor Relations on LP reporting + ad hoc requests
• Support cash management + credit facility activity
• Drive process improvements + system initiatives (UAT, implementation workstreams)
• Assist with month/quarter-end close and ongoing reporting deliverables
• Work closely with senior leadership on strategic finance initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Accounting / Finance (or similar)
• 5–10 years of experience (level-dependent) within:
• Public accounting (Big 4 preferred), AND/OR
• Private equity / asset management (strongly preferred)
• CPA strongly preferred
• Hands-on experience with:
• Fund structures
• Capital activity
• Financial reporting within PE environments
• Strong technical accounting + analytical skillset
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-performance environment
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and interact with senior stakeholders
