See projectMy big project over the last 5 years has been creating a searchable online catalog. Although I conceived and initiated this project, it has taken a lot of work from academic advisors, career services, our internal design team, and our amazing programmer (Frank).
* Our previous catalog was a series of word documents that were CTRL-c'ed onto the web.
* The newest version allows the user to search and filter based on program types, delivery mode, academic pathway, etc.

* Explore.cscc.edu combines curricular info with transfer info and labor market info.
* I did initial wireframes.
* I conducted two rounds of user testing to validate the design.
* Each program page has a Request Info button - our RFIs are up 460% since the tool launched. -
Resources for Students

Our biggest user tasks our in the student information system (CougarWeb), but the smaller ones are inventoried on a page called Resources for Students. That page has about 120 links supporting 80+ tasks that we could identify. With CougarWeb changing, it was time to look at Resources for Students.

* Condensed the smaller tasks into accordions to make the page easier to scan.
* Conducted a first-click test to evaluate two versions of the new page.
* Obligatory strange result: While Resources for Students is the No. 4 most-visited page on cscc.edu (according to Google Analytics), half of my user testers had never seen it. -
Online Catalog
-
See projectI developed requirements and oversaw construction of our first searchable course/program catalog. I worked closely with our developer; and coordinated with Academic Affairs, IT and a vendor. This project replaced our static, MS Word-based catalog - a longtime goal of mine.

Columbus State Intranet
-
See projectProduced a website for employees with a narrow focus on top tasks.
Worked with 2 consultants, a committee of 20, and a few dozen content contributors.
Developed an innovative content model to arrange topics by function, rather than org chart.
Managed a sitemap in Slickplan and a content inventory spreadsheet (250 pages) -
Too Many Tools (UX Project)
-
Columbus State uses a variety of tools to help students find classes and register. I observed five students registering for classes and did a short field study with Academic Advisors. In total, students and advisors used 19 different tools, ranging from online registration systems to homegrown handouts. It takes a student between 3-8 minutes to register for one class. This work will inform training aids to help students navigate our process.

Website Usability Test May 2018
-
I and two colleagues sat with 22 high school juniors at four different high schools to get first impressions of CSCC.edu and see how easy it was to find programs. Generally, we found the site creates a good impression and majors are not hard to find, although students struggle with our "transfer" options. The test led to several short-term fixes and UX improvements.

Website redesign
-
See projectRelaunched website for Columbus State Community College. I am project manager for the redesign, managing a 188-line Gantt chart and coordinating work from 4 core contributors, 1 developer, 2 student workers, 2 managers, and 120 or so content contributors. The new site is cleaner, focuses more sharply on prospective students, and (finally!) is mobile-responsive.
