The ICF Portfolio Path is an alternative credentialing route for coaches whose learning and practice haven’t followed a single, formally accredited program. Because mastery rarely comes from one institution alone. It emerges through reflection. Through years of practice. And refining how you listen, respond, and trust yourself in the work. The Portfolio Path asks for ownership. Ownership of how you curate your learning. Ownership of how you refine your coaching presence. Ownership of submitting recordings that genuinely reflect MCC-level mastery. In my experience, this is where mentorship matters most. The Portfolio Path isn’t for everyone. It’s for coaches who’ve grown organically, who value depth over formality, and who want their credential to reflect how they actually practise, it can be a deeply aligned route. The Portfolio Path is less about proving something and more about inhabiting the craft more fully. Listening is a skill that makes others feel valued and builds trust, making it a powerful tool for better relationships In addition to being able to speak well is the ability to LISTEN well! While I was attending the Business & Mindset Israel Leadership conference in Jerusalem,  I was concentrating on practicing the 70/30 Rule: Aim to listen 70% of the time and speak only 30%. When others are talking, don’t just be reloading your own mouth to talk, let them know you hear what they’re saying. Listen to learn. Try to avoid interrupting and just let people finish their thoughts completely. When you give your full attention and don't interrupt, prospects feel respected, which takes down their defenses and makes them more open to your message. Everyone wants to feel that they’re important, that they matter.  Give them the wonderful gift of listening, point out something they are doing right, ask them a question and let them know that you care. At one of the break-out sessions at the event, Shia Getter spoke about client loyalty. He said that trust leads to higher customer satisfaction and more referrals. Remember the famous saying “They don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.” I can’t share this message strong enough: Listening is a skill that makes others feel valued and builds trust, making it a powerful tool for better relationships. And better relationships means people will trust you and want to do business with you. Then you don’t have to sell anything.
