Last month, ALTEN Nederland's Software Engineer and Trainer Bart Beumer delivered a C++ training session to 12 motivated students from Project MARCH, a student team developing an exoskeleton for people with spinal cord injuries, with the mission to increase their independence and quality of life. The exoskeleton enables users to stand up and walk again. A development with immense physical, mental, and social value. The training equipped the team with the skills to write the code for the exoskeleton, helping them take the next step towards achieving their goals for this school year. #CPlusPlus #Partnership

💡 𝐂# 𝐓𝐢𝐩 - 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 🔥 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝙣𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨 and 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 are hardcoded, unnamed constants within C# code. Their meanings are often unclear without additional context, which makes the code harder to understand and maintain. Using 𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙘 𝙣𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨 and 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 can make your code less readable, less maintainable, and more prone to errors. 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝘅𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 ✅ Instead of hardcoding values directly, define them as named 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨. This enhances readability and makes it easier to update values in one place if needed. ✅ Use 𝙀𝙣𝙪𝙢𝙨 that provide a clear, type-safe way to represent discrete values. ❓ What are your thoughts about avoiding 𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙘 𝙣𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨 and 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨? MCUViewer 1.2.0 is here! 🎉 The long-awaited release is finally out - and it’s a big one. This version introduces the recorder module, built to capture and visualize high-speed signals even on low-cost MCUs like #M0, or in situations where your SWD bandwidth is limited. And yes - #MacOS is now fully supported! Just run the installer and start analyzing your embedded target! Apart from the technical improvements, there’s also an important update I want to be transparent about: 👉 MCUViewer is transitioning from open source to a closed source model, with a free mode for non-commercial use. Why? Because building and supporting tools like this takes time - and I want to keep improving it with features that actually help you move faster. But don’t worry! The free version lets you test all features with no time limit, just with a few usage restrictions. It will always stay free for hobbyists and makers. 📬 Sign up for the newsletter at mcuviewer.com so you don’t miss what’s next! #MCUViewer #Debugging #Firmware #PowerElectronics #MotorControl #LLC #PFC

Debugging Live Embedded Systems? Stop Crashing Them. Traditional tools (printf, breakpoints) sabotage production devices by disrupting timing-critical operations. Want to observe behavior without altering it? → Deep dive into non-intrusive tracing techniques in my latest article: https://lnkd.in/gp4agUZA 3 Techniques That Fix What Intrusive Tools Break: 1️⃣ Hardware Tracing (ETM/PTM): Capture every cycle with zero overhead. 2️⃣ RTOS-Aware Tools (Tracealyzer): X-ray task collisions & ISR bottlenecks. 3️⃣ Lightweight SW Tracing: Log silently to RAM; extract via debug probes. Real-World Rescue: A medical wearable crashed randomly in-field. Intrusive tools made it worse. Solution: ETM tracing + Tracealyzer exposed a deadly priority inversion. Result: Fixed in 48 hours. $2M recall avoided. Need Engineers Who Master Non-Intrusive Debugging? At RunTime Recruitment, we source experts who: → Slash debug time on live systems (ETM/SWO/SEGGER), → Solve timing ghosts in RTOS & multicore environments, → Ship reliable systems, not fire drills. 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗔𝗜 & 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 What if you could spot design flaws the moment they were made? At Sioux Technologies, we use model-driven simulation and visualisation to bridge disciplines, accelerate development, and reduce costly errors. At Electronics and Applications 2025, Robert Hendriksen, senior software architect at Sioux, will show how a holistic engineering approach, strengthened by generative AI, helps teams detect issues earlier, collaborate better, and save significant costs. With over 40 years of experience in system control software and machine building, Robert has seen the power of combining data-driven models with immersive simulation. From CAD to a game-like environment in a day, engineers can ‘fly’ through a machine and uncover hidden dependencies before the first hardware is built. GenAI takes this even further. By processing interdisciplinary data more efficiently, it reveals dependencies between system components and predicts failure modes across abstraction levels. This enables faster iteration cycles, richer insights, and more robust system designs. Join us on Thursday 25 September at Jaarbeurs Utrecht and discover how holistic system engineering, powered by GenAI and simulation, can transform your development process. 🔗 Free registration via Electronics & Applications (23–25 September, Jaarbeurs Utrecht): https://fhi.nl/eabeurs/ ---- #SiouxTechnologies #WeBringHighTechToLife #SystemEngineering #EmbeddedSoftware #Simulation #GenAI

⏱️ Most RTOs look great on paper until production goes down. Few teams simulate full-stack restoration at production scale, and the result is Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) that pass audits but fail under real-world pressure. In our blog, we explore why RTOs collapse in complex systems and reveal the hidden gaps in today’s cloud disaster recovery planning. 👉 Read the post: https://lnkd.in/ex_QZGqh #FireflyAI #PlatformEngineering #DevOps #CloudResilience #DisasterRecovery #InfrastructureAsCode #CloudAutomation

The most elusive bugs don’t live in hardware or software. They hide at the interface between them. When FPGA and software teams debug in isolation, timing drifts, context gets lost, and visibility disappears. But when you align all three (timing, context, and visibility) system behavior comes into focus. That’s how we’ve helped teams shorten debug cycles and build more predictable embedded systems. #fpga #fpgadesign #embeddedsoftware #embeddedhardware #debugging
