AI and Policy: Building Principles, Not Barriers I was honored to join the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEC) in Indiana for a timely and thought-provoking panel discussion on the question: Should we develop policies for AI curriculum development for entrepreneurship education? As AI continues to reshape how businesses are created, scaled, and led, we must ensure that policy does not aim to limit AI, but instead provides guiding principles for its responsible and inclusive use. We need a shared understanding of how AI can be ethically integrated into entrepreneurship education, with a focus on transparency, equity, and human-centered values. Thank you to the GEC community for fostering global dialogue at the intersection of innovation, education, and policy. These are the conversations that will define the future of work and learning. Dual enrollment (DE) is experiencing significant growth, with high school students taking university-level courses while still in secondary school. In the 2023-24 academic year, there were 2.8 million dual enrollment students, marking a 12.7% increase from the previous year. This translates to an additional 300,000 students engaging in college courses during high school. The majority of this growth is seen in community colleges and public institutions, with community colleges alone accounting for over 70% of all dual enrollment last year. “Impact starts with a pivot.” That’s what Dr. Jen Bennett of Indiana Wesleyan University shared with me in our recent conversation about entrepreneurship education. And she’s absolutely right. We often talk about innovation in education, but real innovation requires change—and change requires courage. Entrepreneurs understand that pivoting isn’t failure—it’s strategy. The same should be true in education. If we want students who are adaptable, resilient, and future-ready, we must teach them how to pivot: How to identify when something isn’t working. How to adjust their approach. How to keep moving forward despite uncertainty. If we don’t normalize iteration, we risk creating students who freeze when the world shifts. And the world is shifting—fast. So let’s ask ourselves: Are we giving students the confidence to pivot? Or are we still asking them to color inside the lines?
