This spring season is coming to an end! And wow, so many changes, not just from the past couple of months of 2026 but also from last year.
1. Last summer, I lived in Columbia, South Carolina and worked as a data governance intern for
AgFirst Farm Credit Bank in the Office of Data Management department. In this role, I worked with Python, Azure LLMs, APIs, RAG workflows, and learned how to use data governance tools like Collibra. It was a great experience to explore an area I had never lived in before, and I developed a great community. Outside of work during that time, my favorite activity I took up was kickboxing! Super fun. The people that work at AgFirst are incredible, and that was a very special summer.
2. I continued my journey in higher education and started on my MS in Statistics at Florida State University last August. My favorite class in the fall was STA 5198 (Epidemiology for Statisticians) and my favorite class in the spring was STA 5167 (Statistics in Applications II). I still have to take the final exam for STA 5327 (Statistical Inference). The material taught is based off of Casella and Berger's Statistical Inference book. Wish me luck, I'm going to need it!
I also became a TA for the class STA 3064 (Introduction to Statistical Modeling with SAS) in the fall and was a TA for STA 2023 (Fundamental Business Statistics) this spring. Shoutout to
Sherif Mohammed Jared Roderick for being wonderful teachers to TA under this spring.
3. I got married last fall to an amazing man who is an army officer stationed in South Korea. We were able to spend our first Christmas together over there in December, and it was so much fun! I will be in South Korea for almost the whole summer, which I am super excited for!
4. I continue my work as an intern at
The Action Company. It is such a privilege to learn from
Shaun Davis and the other Actionaunts about Agentic AI, visual analytics, data processing, data engineering, consulting, and so much more. The people at this company are truly are treasure to work with and the information I am learning is so valuable. As the Tableau Conference is approaching, make sure to look out for all of the content they will be producing!
5. In January, I started doing research at Lexington Health Hospital in Lexington, South Carolina on Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication (TIF) procedures. It has been a great experience to use my statistical knowledge on clinical data and procedures. We hope to make a publication in a journal about our findings soon.
So thankful for all the incredible experiences and people I have learned from this past year. I am looking forward to the summer!
