Ohio State has launched our AI Fluency initiative, a bold endeavor that will start this fall for first-year students. The dialogue about AI in higher ed often focuses on student use of generative AI tools and academic policies - and increasingly, exploring how AI can be applied in higher ed administration. But let's not forget the need for faculty development, which is also particularly important in the continued shift toward online/digital learning. Today at the Ohio Tech Summit 2025, I was inspired by President Walter "Ted" Carter of The Ohio State University. He shared a bold vision: over the next ten years, OSU will redefine higher education and aim to make all students fluent in AI, like English—regardless of major. While I still hear many discussions about the challenges of integrating AI into curricula—such as academic integrity, impact on critical thinking, and more—it's clear we need to move swiftly. This spring, I tried to introduce AI into my teaching of the capstone course in the M.S. in Business Analytics program at Franklin University. I found that as students improved their skills in communicating with AI, they tackled real-world industry problems more effectively, with AI becoming their assistant. I'm still exploring how to incorporate AI into lower-level courses, but President Carter's message is clear: AI fluency is essential for all students. It's time to rethink our curricula and prepare our students for an AI-driven future. #OhioTechSummit #ArtificialIntelligence #HigherEd

🚨 Ohio districts must adopt an AI use policy by July 1, 2026 — and the state’s model policy is coming December 31, 2025. What does this mean for school leaders, related service providers, and educators?
