I am grateful for the chance to sit in on real-time conversations with senior health system leaders and hear directly what’s keeping them up at night. Through our Healthtech Industry Council, I get a front-row seat to the challenges they’re facing and the opportunities they see for innovation.
In listening to these conversations, three themes stood out to me as especially ripe for founders to tackle:
1️⃣ Epic’s AI push is accelerating, but the real openings are at the edges. Systems will adopt what’s “good enough” inside Epic, but founders who solve specialized workflows, attribution, or compliance gaps still have room to win.
2️⃣ Revenue blind spots are costing systems billions. Denials pile up not just as lost dollars but as staff time and patient frustration. The demand is shifting from analytics after the fact to tools that prevent denials before a claim ever leaves the door.
3️⃣ Preventive care still lacks a business model. Health systems and employers won’t fund tools without proof of ROI. The winners will tie prevention directly to risk-contract outcomes like fewer ED visits, reduced readmissions, or chronic disease control.

At Forum Ventures we’re investing in the founders building solutions here. If you’re already working on one, pitch our accelerator. If you’re still pre-company but ready to build, our AI Venture Studio may be the right place to start.
Huge thanks to our Healthtech Industry Council members for sharing their perspectives so candidly and helping surface the opportunities that matter most!
