Day 1 at CES Experiencing the #UE5 next-gen #HMI demo in person was a highlight. For the first time, #UnrealEngine is running every pixel inside a digital cockpit: cluster, native maps, an interactive (and very fun) Fall Guys theme, plus the ability to launch Disney+, play Rocket League and much more! You can actually sit behind the wheel and experience it yourself at CES. If you’re here, it’s showcased at the AMD booth (West Hall, Meeting Room 223). John Deere shared its Harvest Simulator, powered by Unreal, which automates steering, speed, and machine settings. Since harvest season is a limited window, UE allows them to test and validate software using simulated real-world data throughout the year, rather than waiting for harvest time. Elektrobit announced EB civion, a suite of solutions to fast-track SDV cockpit development. We took a drive in the CARLA simulator built on Unreal for safety applications. Brunswick’s helm simulator felt surprisingly real, enough to give me that fuzzy feeling you get when you’re actually out on the water.🥴 Looking forward to Day 2!

That’s what President and CPO Ravi Singh told me in our wide-ranging conversation, which covered the platform’s unique position in the pantheon of content management systems. Its fervent commitment to innovation and customer success has netted marquee names like FedEx and the LA Times – which rely on an unshakable trust. As Ravi said, Brightspot quietly delivers for the loudest brands in the world, powering extremely complex, enterprise‑grade security, observability, and compliance. In our conversation, we talked at length about Brightspot’s AI evolution and how avoiding the frenetic frenzy has enabled them to focus on high-utility features and governance. We also discussed the widening surface area of content security, and how they're aiming to be the most accessible CMS from a backend perspective. With a global customer base and an expanding partner ecosystem, the company is readying itself for growth in 2026. One thing that rises above the noise in the AI echochamber is Brightspot’s emphasis on culture and supporting the creative spirit. Over the past three years, the conversation around AI in the creative community has centered almost entirely on generative AI (specifically image and video generation). For many creators, generative AI feels threatening because it appears to automate work that was once theirs alone. At the same time, many models are trained on unlicensed content, raising ethical, legal, and fairness concerns. This has led to one group that insists there is no valid or ethical use of "AI" and pushes back against anyone who engages with it, and another that almost revels in the capabilities and disruption it is causing. Most of us find ourselves somewhere in the middle, just trying to understand the technology and its implications. The result is a debate that is highly polarized and leaves little room for nuance, making it difficult to have conversations that explore the wider ways AI may shape creative work, both positively and negatively. I put together a simple framework for thinking about AI beyond generative AI in the creative industry, one that can hopefully open space for a more nuanced conversation. The framework is organized into 4 sections:  • Defining and classifying the different types of AI  • Categorizing how AI is implemented and its resulting impact  • Exploring factors to consider when determining the potential impact of AI  • Listing a number of other considerations relevant to the broader discussion By classifying and defining these categories of AI, we can hopefully open a conversation that goes beyond generative AI, giving creators tools to consider how it may impact them and the broader creative community. It's important to note that this does not try and address the question of the impact AI may have on any specific creative role, profession, or industry. Instead, it attempts to build a framework where that discussion can occur. "𝗔𝗜" 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗜 Within the creative industry, "AI" has been largely synonymous with generative AI (image and video). However, AI is much broader than image and video generation. It includes different types of implementations and functionality, each with distinct roles and impacts. For the purposes of discussions within the creative community, I propose categorizing AI into three buckets: 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗜: AI that generates assets.   𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗜: AI that performs specific, predetermined tasks.   𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗜: AI that can autonomously perform complex, multi-step tasks.  Most of the examples below are powered by generative AI or large language models, but the same categories also apply to other types of machine learning systems.
