They are a singular location where survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and elder abuse can find all of the services they may need. These Centers focus on reducing the number of times survivors have to tell their stories and the number of places they must travel for help. During trauma, being shuffled around town to eight or nine different agencies and being asked to repeat a story of abusive trauma many times over can deter survivors from disclosing abuse or asking for help. Randy Wilson shared thisProud to represent Autism FIRST as an exhibitor at the 29th Annual CHKD School Healthcare Conference, hosted by Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters’s in Norfolk, Virginia. This annual conference brings together school nurses, clinicians, administrators, and community agencies from across the region to strengthen how students’ health and developmental needs are supported in educational settings. It is an incredible space for collaboration, learning, and relationship building that directly impacts children and families throughout the Tidewater community. Throughout the event, I had the opportunity to connect with school clinicians and nurses, share resources, discuss referral pathways, and highlight how Autism FIRST supports students both in and beyond the classroom. One of the highlights of the day was collaborating with valued community partners who play such an important role in supporting children and families across the region and who actively refer to Autism First in the Tidewater area. Randy Wilson liked thisAs Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to every provider, client, and family member who has trusted me to help navigate treatment and support options throughout this journey. What many people may not know is that my connection to this work is deeply personal. My mother struggled with severe mental health and substance use issues until her passing when I was only 19 years old. At the time, I didn’t know who to call, where to turn, or how to help her. I often wonder if having the right support and guidance could have changed the outcome. That experience is a large part of why the work I do at AMFM Healthcare and within the mental health space means so much more to me than just a job. To me, it’s a lifeline I hope to extend to every provider, family member, and individual I connect with across my territory. Whether it’s a provider calling to learn more about AMFM, a parent trying to understand the inpatient treatment process, or someone simply unsure where to begin; I never want anyone to feel as alone as I once did. My goal is simple: to help reduce the likelihood of another family receiving the kind of phone call I did. In today’s climate, we are navigating economic challenges, political shifts, and constant changes in technology and automation. Yet even with all of that, we still have to find ways to move forward, communicate clearly, and bring our gifts to life. That requires more than motivation. It requires renewed perspective, intentional structure, and the discipline to keep showing up while the path is still unfolding. On February 13, 2019, Richmond, VA Mayor Levar Stoney proclaimed it “Mad Skillz Day” saying “Mad Skillz is credited for putting Virginia on the hip hop map as he was the first artist to break out nationally from the state” he continued the proclamation, “Mad Skillz has been a positive influence on our city and has paved the way for younger generations to pursue the dream of working in the music industry.”
