Finding qualified people is still one of the biggest challenges facing small business owners. According to National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)’s latest Small Business Jobs Report, 32% of owners had job openings they could not fill in September, and almost 90% said they received few or no qualified applicants. This is not only a hiring problem. It is also a leadership challenge. When people feel connected to the mission, appreciated for their work, and part of a strong team, they stay. A healthy culture turns employees into long-term partners. In my Vistage Worldwide, Inc. groups, I see leaders tackle these issues by helping create workplaces that focus on purpose, trust, and communication.
