Last week's musings. You'll notice some reoccuring themes... 𝟭. 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀/𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗟 🍇 (𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗷𝗮𝗺)  -recurring idea i've been mulling -robotics is happening particularly in industrial setting  -still lots of problems, but the revolution is happening and there are  work arounds until the tech is really there -prices in theory are highest they will ever be (impact of tariffs?) -folks looking for pre-training data, but eventually will also need fine tuned data -what data fidelity is good enough? 𝟮. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗺 𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 + 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 🍇  -it's an absolute monster, $75B market cap and up 300% over the last 5 years. - aircraft parts, 90% proprietary but high margin - killer aftermarket business  - how many software biz have lifetime value of 50 years?! -has lots of things software investors look for (sticky revenue, high margin, defensibility in GTM and unique flywheel, focus, etc.)  -makes me think way more about hard tech viability 𝟯. 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 - from Neil Shah on Invest Like the Best - incredible listen - few people have maniacal focus and it's so important for founders 𝟰. 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 -WTF  𝟱. NEW: NY’s OCM has decided to transition to Metrc for their seed-to-sale tracking system. This comes after the partnership between Metrc and BioTrack, BioTrack of course was the tech company initially given the seed-to-sale contract in New York. Things to keep in mind as per https://lnkd.in/g_gunAbG: • Licensees who were sending data via the BioTrack NY STS API can now stop. • All licensees are still required to maintain an electronic, real-time inventory tracking system. • Metrc UIDs will cost $0.10, and any BioTrack tags previously purchased will be credited. • Third-party integrators will not be charged to transition from BioTrack’s API to Metrc’s API. • Labs will send testing data to Metrc under the new system. • Until Metrc goes live, transfers must use paper manifests, and licensees should keep historical data in their own systems. • OCM and Metrc will provide updates on API access, sandbox testing, training, and tags in the coming months. • Operators are advised to continue to submit inventory/sales reports to the Office via the portal. • They are aiming to help operators go live with Metrc in early 2026 Distru is a validated third party software integrator with BioTrack in NY, and we are committed to working with Metrc as OCM figures out what next steps are in the coming months. #NYCannabis #Metrc #SeedToSale #Compliance #CannabisTech #Distru

what not to do as a startup: cal[dot]com sold us on a feature that they internally knew they were soon deprecating we spent a month building something using that feature only to find out ourselves this week spent days trying to get in contact with someone from their team (we're paying users) we emailed their founder twice and got hit with an "unsubscribe" after later apologizing, their founder bailed on the call with our team at the last minute and had some entry level growth person take his place and dodge our questions it's SO easy to do the little things right.. yet some startups still can't get out of their own way

Hot take: lot's of #LP's are growing underwhelmed with traditional venture investing. 💰 Fees are high given the level of engagement with the company operators. ❓ Access is opaque - LP's are unclear on the portco operations and outcomes. Outcomes are scattered - power law investing can certainly work, but many feel that venture capital investing is just a numbers game. There's another way. I'm biased, but I think it's better: #VentureStudios as an asset class. They blend: 🤜 🤛 Control and ownership 💡 Thematic focus 👬 Partnership with operators Studios offer a fund-like structure — but with more alignment, higher value conversion and less noise.
