“I worked with Mohneesh for over a year in Walmart and found him to be a very attentive and professional engineer. He made considerable contributions to the design, implementation and deployment of a number of core Pricing features and showed a willingness to stick with things until the job was done. Always easy-going and personable, he is a team contributor and his ability to articulate the complexity of technical issues in a digestible manner is particularly strong. I also found him to be someone who is willing to think about things which may appear to be peripheral to the development task at hand but contribute to a more comprehensive solution. ”

A Neural Algorithm for Artistic Style
-
Provided a modified implementation of the Neural Algorithm for Artistic Style transfer as proposed by Leon Gatys
Fused the artistic style of an artwork with the content of an image by maximizing the correlation between the generated image and feature map of VGG-16 net layers used to extract style and content from image. Used Markov Random Fields for better visualization -

Serendipity: Deals on Experiences Catered to Users’ Preferences

Serendipity is a coupon aggregator that presents users with deals on experiences. Numerous coupon related services exist such as Groupon with a roughly two billion dollar market capitalization, Coupons.com (Quotient Technology) trading at roughly a one billion dollars market capitalization, and RetailMeNot with a $500 million market capitalization. The market for providing retail discounts is large; however, many of these services falter by presenting users with tens of seemingly unrelated coupons at once, failing to capture users’ preferences. They also overwhelm users by displaying myriad options at once. We plan to enter the coupon market, differentiating ourselves from the aforementioned coupon aggregators by using cloud technologies and collaborative filtering to offer our users high-quality deals that are catered to their individual preferences. We use online learning on the user's’ transaction histories as well as their selection history via our service to show them relevant deals, one-at-a-time. If a user does not accept the current deal and chooses to proceed to the next, the user will not be able to return to the same deal again. Thus, we show our users a selection of high quality offers that should be carefully considered.
