I recently watched the full interview with Yat Siu discussing The Sandbox and its $SAND token. These are 5 things people should know 👇 1. He claims the price of $SAND is "incredibly important" to them and they're "extremely committed" to making the sand token valuable. 2. The thread saying Sandbox has only "a few hundred players" is wrong; it's actually that they only have a few hundred people transacting on chain which is how that number is being counted. They claim 250-300k players per 'season'. 3. Animoca remains the majority equity stakeholder of Sandbox and at some point was the sole owner. 4. This layoff / restructuring announcement was supposed to be released by them in about a month, along with a larger rundown of how Sebastian is still heavily involved and the future of Sandbox. They are not happy with this being leaked. 5. The pivot to 'memecoin launcher' doesn't seem completely accurate. He said tokens are part of the future but it seems like this was an over simplification.

One of the coolest things about Transformers: They are sequence-length independent. Why? Because self-attention lets each token attend to every other token. The projection weights (Wq, Wk, Wv, FFN) act only on the embedding dimension, not on sequence length. It’s like moving the burden of handling variable length away from the parameters, and letting the model build its own dynamic weight matrix at runtime. 👉 Limits in practice come from positional encodings + compute cost, but the architecture itself is elegantly decoupled from sequence length. That’s pure magic ✨

Are Prediction Markets Really Peer-to-Peer (P2P)? ------------------------------------------------------ There's nuance between Social/P2P, Exchanges, and Prediction Markets (PMs). Yet all three are lumped together into the "Peer-to-Peer" bucket by many of the loudest voices in our space. Can you really call Prediction Markets Peer-to-Peer (P2P), though? I don't think so... The premise of "P2P betting" is simple: one user bets directly against another user. But here's where it gets murky. Is that user expected to be an individual, or can it be an institution? By its purest definition, P2P means that one individual is betting against another individual. (On Kutt - The Social Betting Platform, we take it a step further and show you who you're betting against - each person has a user profile and you can interact with your counterparty in a variety of ways). Exchanges are technically P2P, but many of them now use institutional "market makers," which calls into question whether or not it's fair to label them as true P2P. But, whatever...tomAYto, tomAHto. Exchange mechanics can be the subject of another post. This is about PMs. On a PM, you’re buying a binary options contract on a Yes/No event. Sure, someone else is taking the "opposite side" of the market - but structurally, you’re not betting directly against them. PMs promise infinite liquidity, which means that *someone* is balancing a central book somewhere in the middle of each trade and, oftentimes, taking on liquidity/risk themselves. No amount of gaslighting will make this not true. The person “taking the other side” on a PM or on a lot of these betting exchanges is now, by and large, an institutional market maker. A corporation, or hedge fund, or quant shop. Not an individual. In fact, at a place like Kalshi, you're likely betting (sorry, "trading") against their in-house trade desk: https://lnkd.in/erVgBZ_Z Tell me how this is different than a traditional sportsbook. For the record, I have no issues with what they're doing. At all. I just have an issue with the way it's being presented to users. It's disingenuous to call Prediction Markets "P2P" when they're anything but. Some (most?) users might not care, but we anticipate some blowback eventually. To the average bettor, being on the “other side” of a trade with a hedge fund or a computer just doesn’t feel the same as betting against another human being you consider your equal. Let's save the P2P moniker for the true P2P platforms.

I've spent the last year taking 40+ founders from San Francisco to Shenzhen and visiting hundreds of factories. Here's what I wish every hardware founder knew: 1. Chinese factories are desperate for overseas orders. U.S. founders can't find reliable manufacturers (most look for them on Alibaba) while Chinese factories are eager for overseas orders (willing to go to the airport to pick you up). Somehow they can't find each other. With slowed domestic demand, successful factory owners are growing their business in new ways - some are investing in startups, co-developing products with promising teams for free, or going into high value businesses such as robotics. 2. Proximity cuts your costs in half and 10x your speed. Fast hardware iteration requires proximity to suppliers. You can cut cost and lead time by more than half when you can drive 20min to your source factories to unblock hurdles. One of us got a robotics battery pack for less than half the wholesale price he got in the U.S. just by walking into the electronics market. 3. Manufacturing relationships can make or break you. Our relationship with source factories allowed us to help founders ship during Chinese New Year when all the factories were on break. A motor supplier gave us sample actuators as gifts when we visited, even though their actuators are all sold out in the U.S. market. Don't just be a MOQ to the suppliers. 4. Full supply chain visibility changes everything. In one week we traced in robotics: reducer → motor → joint → limb → full humanoid platform. Consumer electronics: PCB → enclosure → injection mold → assembly → QA → packaging → distribution.
