I was not happy with my health and felt I was not in control. As you can see from the photo, the transformation became real for me. I’ve become so passionate about my results that I’ve decided to become a Coach in helping others make the transformation they are looking for!! Matt Hester shared thisDay 65 Being a Give Loaned Professional Cohort October 31, 2023 Daniel 12:4 “But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” The last official day of the October Give Campaign. We also had our last weekly call with the Giving Champions. We answered a few questions, and we wrapped up the campaign. As a team we decided to all dress up as the Addams family. While it is the last day of the campaign it is also Halloween. It was fun way to “officially” end up our campaign. I was tasked with being Lurch. I went as far as I could and hired a professional makeup artist to show me how to apply makeup a few days before Halloween. The entire team leaned in, and everyone looked amazing. Even found a way in Teams, to turn our cameras all black and white. All the Giving Champions loved our team approach. We all even tried to stay in character. What was really funny my topic was how to recruit for next years Loaned Professional Cohorts. This is my opportunity to let all my passion out and get people excited to be a LP. I started out in my best monotone deep voice, trying to stay in character. That lasted about 5 seconds, before I couldn’t hold my passion back anymore. One of the GC’s called it the best character break ever. 😊 As I reflected at the end of the day, I realized I only have 1 month left for this amazing experience. It truly was hard being sad, looking at all my amazing teammates. It truly was a blessing today!

Matt Hester posted thisDay 63 Being a Give Loaned Professional Cohort October 27, 2023 Psalm 121:1 “A Song of Ascents. I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?” The last Friday of the Give campaign was today. We as a team of loaned professionals started to shift our focus to working on our debrief of the campaign. We also encourage all the GCs to debrief. In a sense the debrief really is the beginning of the planning for next year’s Give campaign. I posted a pro-tip to Give teams titled To Debrief or to Not Debrief that is not the question. All the GCs enjoyed the post and leaned into the process. A fun thought I had today about the debrief process brought me back to the very first day of this journey. I remember walking into the room and the campaign was already planned, and we were honored to run it. It made me smile thinking of the LP’s from last year, Samantha and Antoni doing the same exercise I am getting ready to do in November. I also had a chance to quickly tune into movie called The HURT from Reel Rock 17 featuring Alex Honnold. He was in film, Free Solo, where he climbs El Capitan in Yosemite without a rope. Last October, Honnold set out to climb the entire skyline of his backyard stomping grounds, the Red Rock range in Las Vegas, NV, calling the challenge "Honnold's Ultimate Red Rock Traverse" (The HURT). In 32 hours of nonstop running, scrambling, and soloing, he covered 35 miles of rugged desert terrain, with over 150 pitches of free solo climbing - both up and down - and logged 25,000+ vertical feet of elevation gain. Every year, Microsoft hosts an online auction to raise funds. This year the money raised is going to be split between these nonprofits: Code.org: Learn today, build a brighter tomorrow: https://code.org/ International Committee of the Red Cross: https://www.icrc.org/ United Way of King County: https://www.uwkc.org/ University of Washington Shell House: Shell House: https://lnkd.in/dkQcCucU UNICEF: Humanitarian Aid for Children in Crisis: https://www.unicefusa.org/ There are a ton of items, experiences, and a plethora of amazing things in the auction. As I mentioned earlier, I put in a few things. I even had my dear friends at Park West (Thank You Lea Theron and Jason Betteridge!!!!!) provide some items for me in the auction. It is truly a blessing that my items in the auction raised over $4,000.00 I was truly inspired by Microsoft colleagues bidding on my items! Very humbling and I know the money will be used to impact people’s lives.

Matt Hester posted thisDay 61 Being a Give Loaned Professional Cohort October 25, 2023 Psalm 95:1 “Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! “ We had our GC office hours call today. Almost all the questions were around reporting. How to dig into the different events to get donation information, and general numbers around participation. The great thing is the tools we have in place really make this easy to do. Reporting truly has become second nature to me. I finished the day listening to the concert! The event supported https://lnkd.in/gHpx7gMr Charity water is a nonprofit focused on providing clean water for millions of people. There are 703 million people who lack basic access to clean and safe drinking water. They are on a mission to change that. They believe that sustainable work is locally led. Along with implementing community-owned water projects, their local partners help facilitate comprehensive water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programming to protect everyone’s long-term health. Very fun day!

Matt Hester posted thisDay 60 Being a Give Loaned Professional Cohort October 24, 2023 1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” Our team meeting today was truly the highlight for me. I was asked to talk to the GC’s about becoming loaned professionals. It was the first time, outside of my fellow LP’s, I got to share a brief glimpse of my experience in becoming as a loaned professional. It was a good kind of emotional and I was happy to share the experience. I even had all my fellow LP’s share a word or two in the chat about the experience. It truly was hard not to get choked up as I tried to finish my three slides. I did make it through and right off camera as the happy tears started to flow. I hope I have an impact on someone the same way, Kristen Hester, my boss Mark, and my LP’s from last year (Antoni and Samantha Noland) had on me. I smiled after the call as I had a couple of 1:1’s on my calendar to talk about becoming an LP. I was also told that a few people signed up for the LP informational emails. Truly a blessing, I got to share a small portion of the experience.

Early in my training career, I spent years as a freelance trainer, travelling all over the place, teaching Windows NT, TCP/IP, and Exchange. I needed to get off the road to be a better dad to my young family, and I pivoted to a 16 stint with the best technical training company in the midwest, Centriq, in Kansas City. I followed that with 6 years at Microsoft where I learned so much and created some wonderful professional relationships. 6 months after leaving MS, and I'm freelancing as an MCT, delivering content both remote and on-site. It's great being back out in front of groups of people, interacting live, and watching the lightbulbs turn on. I'm enjoying creating new content, tailored towards specific audiences, and just getting a type of social interaction that one just doesn't get teaching remotely. Thanks to all of the folks who have given me a chance, and I continue to look forward to travelling and seeing folks live once again.

I remember interviewing on Valentine’s Day in 2020, and two business days later, I had signed my offer. People kept asking me what was next, and for the first time, I didn’t know what my 5 year plan was. I was just thrilled to start my career with Microsoft at 19 years old! So I made a new goal: stay for five years and earn my anniversary crystal. Yesterday, July 20, 2025, I hit that milestone. Five years into my career, five years into my journey with Microsoft. I'll forever be grateful for the opportunities, growth, learnings, and friendships I've made in these 5 years. I can't wait to see what the next 5 years teach me!
