A lot has been happening behind the scenes in Georgia post, and now it’s showing up on screens. With the Post-Production Tax Credit now signed into law, Georgia is establishing itself not just as a premier filming location, but as a world-class finishing hub. It’s a major investment in the future of our creative workforce and industry infrastructure. Georgia’s renewed support for post is a smart move for business, for talent, and for the future of the state’s creative economy. Parker Jarvie, Senior Colorist at Company 3 Atlanta, was recently profiled in postPerspective, highlighting his work on 100 Foot Wave, American Primeval, and his ongoing collaboration with Stefan Sonnenfeld on the final color for James Gunn’s Superman. All three were finished—or are now finishing—at Company 3 Atlanta. With Superman releasing July 11, it’s a milestone project for Georgia post. Parker also led the color on Straw, a Netflix feature from Tyler Perry Studios premiering June 6, with Justin White contributing as well. Justin is having a standout season, having graded The Color Book, which opened the Atlanta Film Festival, and The Last Guest at Holloway Motel, premiering June 8 at Tribeca. He also collaborated with Jill Bogdanowicz on We Are Pat, also premiering June 8 at Tribeca, and with Parker on The Eternal Song, which debuts June 2 at the Seattle International Film Festival. Here’s what I took in at all 3x GA Entertainment Panels this year. 💪🍑 Too often, we spend time preaching to the choir about Georgia’s merits. What made the “Made in Georgia” panel so valuable was the chance with speak to every single type of person in the industry, outside my inner circle, at once. From new to old Filmmakers, repeat GA producers and heavy weight indie champions, platform engineers, new fangled creators with millions of views, to studio executives. They were all there, under one roof, curious about what’s happening in GA, its next chapter, and ready to share THEIR own experiences to improve it. →Building a Global-Ready Ecosystem We’re living in an age where the entertainment industry is increasingly globalized, budgets face constant downward pressure, and AI is questioning authenticity and intention. Meanwhile, Georgia has carefully grown its creative infrastructure seemingly at the perfect time to meet those challenges head-on. Decades of effort have created an ecosystem with world-class facilities, diverse locations, and a robust community of talent and entrepreneurs, who are ready to seize the opportunities that this shift presents. →But here’s the real talk: Has the state prioritized this next step in the industry? I can’t speak for the powers that be, but it's evident in 2024 by the sudden uptick of GA grown productions that my company saw, reinforced by GA money that the trend exists. Even more so the doubling down by institutions on workforce and talent development to close the gap from script to screen is exciting. Could there be more investment in creative development? Absolutely, especially if we want to thrive and control our own destiny. Should there be more support for local talent? Without a doubt if we want to grow our future breakout visionaries and prevent brain drain. Yet, what’s already here is remarkable. Georgia’s ecosystem is at the forefront of the “next evolution” of the industry, and now is the time to take full advantage of it. The industry is decentralizing, and Georgia’s ecosystem offers a rare combination of readiness and flexibility. Don’t just follow the old paths; explore how Georgia’s infrastructure can help you create and innovate in new ways. →Beyond Tax Incentives, The Bottom Line Yes, Georgia’s tax incentives are a draw. They’ve brought in major productions and fueled the growth of the state’s film industry. But the real value lies in what those incentives have helped create, a one stop shop. Georgia is now a place where you can tell stories from start to finish, whether you’re making an indie feature, a studio tentpole, or developing new media for emerging platforms.
