  • Implementation of I-Procurement System

    -

    Assigned as the point person to lead our market center transition from a manual purchase order system for processing accounts payable to the implementation of a fully electronic I-Procurement system. Although there were several challenges during this key transition, the results have been successful throughout our market center and there have been no disruptions with the financial reporting processes.

  • Merger of Subsidiary Company

    -

    Assigned by the CFO to lead the merger process of a P&C subsidiary into the Parent company, collaborating with legal and operations (underwriting, claims, and IT). Results were a smooth transition throughout the organization and no disruptions with any of the financial reporting processes.

  • Sale of Subsidiary Company

    -

    Key member working with the senior executive team in selling a Life subsidiary to an independent party. Responsibilities included being part of the strategic planning and execution, working directly with the broker and potential buyers, and handling the unique tax issues triggered by the transaction. Results were a successful sale of the Life entity for its surplus amount plus $3.7M to a company that mirrored our values and strong customer focus.

  • Restructuring of Finance Department

    -

    In context with corporate restructuring initiatives, restructured my department by clarifying roles and responsibilities, resulting in streamlined work-flow processes and staff reductions from seven to three without an adverse impact on quality or quantity of the reporting processes.

  • Establishment of Corporate Budgeting & Forecasting

    -

    Collaborated with the CFO and Controller to establish the first company-wide forecasting, budget, and employee performance bonus metrics. Key responsibilities included performing analysis for setting all department budget targets based on a percentage of written premium and establishing specific range payouts for the bonuses. Results were a decrease in company-wide expenses of over $20M and $14M in the first two years.

  • Establishment of Finance Department Training Program

    -

    Created and established a department focused interactive training and professional development program. The result was an increase in technical accounting expertise, and more importantly, it strengthened the department’s understanding and documentation of all major aspects of the business operations, opened key lines of communication, and improved our ability to tell the financial statement story.
