Gaming on a projector is one of those ideas that sounds great… until you think about latency. That’s always been the problem. But seeing XGIMI lean into gaming—especially after checking out the Titan Noir at CES—makes me think this space is finally starting to move. There’s something different about playing on a 100"+ screen. It’s more social, more immersive, and honestly just more fun. Still early, but if projectors can solve for responsiveness, this could open up a whole new way to play. Feels like something to watch closely.

This story in the The Wall Street Journal is a great read. As AI continues to reshape industries, investors are now betting on what they call “HALO companies” — businesses rooted in real assets and real experiences, because they can’t simply be replaced by a prompt. It made me think about gardening. In a world where so much is becoming digital, automated, and accelerated, the simple act of growing something remains deeply human. You can’t outsource the feeling of tending something living. You can’t automate the confidence that comes from nurturing something from seed to harvest. You can’t prompt your way into the calm, perspective, and wellness that comes from putting your hands in soil. AI will transform how we work. But gardening will always transform how we feel. Catches (virtual try-on startup) launches its "RealFit" generative AI sizing tool at Nvidia's GTC conference. Backed by Nvidia, LVMH's Antoine Arnault, model Natalia Vodianova, and others with a $10M raise. It debuted with luxury brand Amiri, allowing photorealistic, video-animated try-ons via user-uploaded measurements/selfie for better fit/drape accuracy in e-commerce. This stands out for strong luxury integration from day one and high-caliber backing in a crowded virtual try-on field. Well, ShopGeni, from BorderX Lab (Silicon Valley-based, with roots in cross-border/global commerce), is an broader AI shopping agent that includes VTO as one feature within its full-cycle agentic commerce stack (discovery → styling → try-on → purchase). Its VTO supports instant previews, often on uploaded photos or models, with mix-and-match for outfits. Try ShopGeni VTO if you want holistic AI-driven shopping (agentic commerce), especially for global/cross-border or multi-brand experiences. It's more versatile for full outfits, personalized discovery, and end-to-end transactions, but the try-on itself may lean more generative/stylistic than deeply physics-accurate. It is a full AI shopping agent with VTO as part of agentic workflow (discovery, curation, multi-item styling, checkout). Also partners with Visa & PayOS for payments/checkout; focus on agentic commerce infrastructure. Both represent 2026's hot trend: generative AI elevating VTO beyond gimmicks, with physics (Catches) and agentic integration (ShopGeni) as differentiators. I've finally seen a real AI-native shopping "head" out in the wild. Brunello Cucinelli's new website is outstanding. I've never seen anything like it. AI is fully baked in and the experience is contextually rendered for each shopper. There's a dynamic floating concierge that guides your shopping experience and changes based on what you're seeing, almost like the Dynamic Island on iOS. At any point you can upload a photo for inspiration or give it more specific guidance on what you'd like to see. Instead of clicking from page to page, it dynamically generates / renders a new screen, based on each click. The URL never changes - like an old-school Flash application. It's real storytelling, not just transactional templated page-based selling like we're used to. They could take this a step further and build fully immersive experiences based entirely on the prompt entered. If you say "I want a shirt for an upcoming cruise," it could build a merchandized page showing clothing and accessories against a cruise backdrop. If you upload a photo of yourself, it could paint the clothing on you and put you on a cruise ship, for example. When you move past the concept of a "page" and instead render dynamically using AI, you can get far more creative with storytelling. Add in voice input and now you have something even more impressive. This whole experience was built by a company called Solomei AI which appears to be a small spin-off from Brunello Cucinelli (on Friday I'm interviewing their CEO for my podcast - should be a great discussion). SpangleAI is building a similar product. There just isn't a terribly compelling reason to go to the brand.com anymore. They're so boring. Dated. What does it really mean to be building a Consumer AI-native product today? BBG Ventures continued its Breakfast Series with a convo on Consumer AI co-hosted with Factorial, Lightspeed, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Stellation Capital (thanks SVB!) We were joined by two forward thinking AI-native builders - Dennis Crowley at Hopscotch Labs and Anna Bofa at Crate - and got into the hard stuff: what's valuable or just a feature; what does real personalization look like; what makes a product a no-brainer for user adoption; what are the new moats, and what are VCs looking for when they invest early? Our top takeaways below - weigh in with your thoughts! ✨ What’s newly possible vs. what’s newly trivial. AI makes a lot easier—but only some things more valuable. The best builders are distinguishing between products that unlocks new user behavior, that are meaningfully differentiated (possible) and features that simply make things easier - or could be built in a weekend (trivial). VCs are looking to invest in the former. H/t Matthew Hartman for this frame. 🧠 Is personalization the VIBE N of 1 personalization is the holy grail - but it's about more than prediction, it's about empathy. It's about building memory over time—capturing user tone, goals, and intent—and creating a vibe match that makes the product feel intuitive and emotionally aligned. That’s what builds trust, repeat use, and brand equity. Crate is doing this by collecting implicit signal, and Hopscotch's Beebot through its ambient "pop in your airpods" approach. Which brings us to ... ⚖️ The product "effort spectrum" Every product lives somewhere on the no → low → hard effort spectrum. AI-native experiences need to be closer to the "no-effort" end of the spectrum - a value exchange and clear payoff for little work. Put another way, friction is the enemy of frequency. 🧱 Moats are the same but different Fundamental moats remain the same, but network effects, proprietary data etc, but they get more exciting because of feedback loops and real time user data - for each interaction and related improvement.
