Here are some interesting stories from the world of retail for Tuesday, November 25: 👔 Kohl's promoted interim Chief Executive Officer Michael Bender to the role on a permanent basis as the US retailer tries to move past a period of management turmoil and slumping sales. 👨🏻‍⚖️ Williams-Sonoma has sued Quince, a retailer sometimes known as a dupe company, accusing it of misleading consumers by selling similar-looking but inferior products and selling them for less. 🏬 Belk will unveil a new store concept in December in two locations, including Florida and Texas. The new format will offer a curated assortment in a much smaller footprint. 🦃 High turkey prices and historically low production are creating a critical shortage of the birds for food banks nationwide, leaving many facilities unable to meet demand for holiday meal donations. 🛋️ Home furniture retailer American Signature Inc filed for bankruptcy in Delaware on Saturday, blaming declining sales and increased costs due to inflation and tariffs. 🚚 Ahead of the holidays, Family Dollar is partnering with DoorDash to offer customers on-demand delivery services from about 7,000 of the retailer’s stores. 🚫 Kroger is joining the ranks of other companies in cutting back or ending remote work for its headquarters staff. Come January its main corporate workers will have to report to the office five days a week. 👟 Swiss running brand On has opened its first store in Madrid, Spain, following recent global openings in Zurich, Switzerland; Seoul, South Korea; Mexico City; and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 🛍️ Unprecedented numbers of Americans are expected to hit stores this Black Friday, but they are likely to curtail their spending as they find fewer bargains from tariff-hit retailers. 🏠 The share of homebuyers using adjustable rate mortgage loans has more than tripled over the past five years, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. 🇺🇸 A bipartisan group of 34 House lawmakers, led by Reps Buchanan (R-FL) and Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), has expressed concern to Shein chief executive Yangtian Xu over the sale of childlike dolls. 🇮🇹 Amiri has planted its roots in Europe with a new Milan flagship shop.
