Greg Lyons posted thisIn film, games, and emerging media, leaders rarely have complete information. I see a lot of leadership advice that assumes stable conditions. Clear roadmaps. Predictable teams. Locked budgets. That’s not how it actually works...especially right now. Leaders have a responsibility to keep momentum alive in the face of uncertainty. Waiting for certainty feels like the responsible thing. But often, it’s the thing that stalls a team. If you’re leading in flux, the question isn’t “Do I have all the answers?” It’s “What decision moves us forward today?”

Greg Lyons shared this“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A powerful reminder from Dr. King about self-reflection and service. In our work. In our leadership. In our daily interactions. Are we: • Shining light in dark places? • Creating opportunity? • Lifting others up? • Using our influence to serve—not just succeed? I’m reminded today that progress doesn’t come from good intentions alone. It comes from daily choices. Especially the quiet ones no one sees. This year, I want to be more intentional about how I show up, who I advocate for, and how I use whatever influence I’ve been given. Service is the truest measure of impact.

Greg Lyons shared thisA few years ago, Indiana was the losingest program in college football history. A week from today, they’re playing for the National Championship. Indiana football’s turnaround is a case study every organization should study. Leadership. Clear standards. Relentless execution. Never satisfied. No shortcuts. No magic formula. Culture cannot be faked. Just doing the basics at an elite level—consistently. Culture compounds. Performance follows.

Greg Lyons shared thisFaith over fear. Fear is loud—and it spreads fast. But just because fear dominates our feeds doesn’t mean it deserves to guide our decisions. Faith doesn’t deny reality. It reframes it. It helps us lead instead of react. Act with integrity when others don't Build instead of freeze. Stay grounded when uncertainty is unavoidable. Choosing faith over fear isn’t passive or naive. It’s intentional. And sometimes, it’s an act of courage. Be courageous. Be kind. Believe in yourself. Keep the faith.

Greg Lyons posted thisHappy New Year! Wishing everyone a great start to 2026. As I enter this year, I’m choosing to focus on gratitude and positivity. There’s no shortage of hard things right now. 2025 was a tough year for many—especially in the job market. Layoffs, furloughs, and hiring freezes dominated the headlines. Add in fears around AI, global conflict, and unchecked greed, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But perspective matters. What we choose to focus on shapes how we experience the world. If we fixate only on what’s broken, that’s all we’ll see. When we intentionally look for the good—the progress, the kindness, the opportunities—we begin to see more of it. You tend to find what you’re looking for. Your focus helps determine your reality. Here’s to a year of gratitude, clarity, and choosing to see the good.

Greg Lyons shared this🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July! Sharing one of my favorite versions of the National Anthem today as a reminder of the values that bring us together. It’s easy to focus on what divides us—media and politics often amplify those differences. But at the heart of it, we’re all in this together. Let’s choose to see the best in one another, show kindness, and lead with love. Wishing everyone a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day!

Greg Lyons reacted on thisGreg Lyons reacted on thisI want to start by saying how much I love the animation industry. I still watch it, I still follow the artists and studios behind it, and I remain endlessly inspired by the work being created. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to play even a small part in its story, and to spend more than 30 years working alongside some of the most talented, passionate people in our field. So often, it felt like we were all just a group of kids trying to prove we belonged, determined to leave our mark before our time was done. As many of you know, I finished my role as Chairman of Jam Filled in December, and now, my time as Sr Advisor has come to a close. I leave behind a team that always fought to put the best possible work on screen. If you ever have the chance to work with them, do it. They won’t let you down. This is a sincere thank you to everyone who gave me their time, their advice, and the opportunity to work together over the years. You know who you are, and I’m deeply grateful to each of you. I’ve been inspired by so many people in this industry, and I’ve done my best to carry that forward for others along the way. I hope our paths cross again. I’ve had the privilege of walking among giants in this field—and in many cases, calling you my friends. As I step into this next chapter, my goal is to keep giving back: to advocate for artists, schools, studios, and the future of this industry through Cartoon North and through my work as a consultant. Keep telling your stories and bringing them to life. I’ll be there, grateful to experience them, and proud to share them with others. See you along the way.

Greg Lyons liked thisGreg Lyons liked thisOne of the parts of my work I value most is walking alongside families as they think through generosity and the kind of impact it can have over time. Those conversations often move beyond how much to give and toward how to give with purpose and clarity. Thats one reason I’ve been encouraged by Blue Trust’s partnership with Solving the World’s Greatest Problems as a co-founder of the Evangelism Fund. The fund is designed to support ministries faithfully sharing the Gospel, while also helping people connect to discipleship and the local church around the world. If thoughtful, intentional generosity is something you’ve been considering, I’m always glad to talk through how opportunities like this fit within a broader plan. #bluetrust #evangelismfund #swgp

Come and join us! ----- Tempus Divum - Wednesdays @ 9:30am Pacific on Discord Every Wednesday morning, we'll be gathering on our Discord server for a deep and thoughtful exercise in spiritual formation with the gamer and game dev in mind. “Tempus Divum,” or “Divine Time,” is a way to support each other in our spiritual growth and connect as a community. Each week involves some kind of worship or meditative music, prayer, as well as something to challenge or educate us: a video, podcast, or sermon on a meaningful topic that we discuss together afterward. Tempus Divum moves through a two year course where Year 1 is all about Invitation including topics like: The Epic Story, Spiritual Beings, Signs and Wonders, A Reliable Bible, Hearing God’s Voice, The Fall and Sin plus special calendar-sensitive topics like The Incarnation, The Ascension, The Second Coming and more. Greg Lyons reacted on thisGreg Lyons reacted on thisAfter 34+ years in games or adjacent, it's time to hang up my spurs and try this retirement thing. I'm not planning to try to find another job in game development; I'm enjoying my ventures into academia and may look for something part-time to keep a little cash coming in, but nothing in games. It's been a wild ride with some ups and a lot of downs - but at least I didn't spend my career trapped in corporate culture (tried it briefly, didn't care for it). One big change I will be making as a result of this decision is that I will be spending a LOT less time on LinkedIn - I'll still get notifications, but will be crossing the LI doomscrolling off my list of daily activities. Good luck to those still trying to make a go of it, despite these troubled times.

BREAKING: The Animation & VFX Power Shift is ON Ready to watch the creative map get redrawn in real time? Texas just dropped a bombshell: a 450,000 sq ft production campus at Alliance Texas, built to run FOUR big shows at once. Paramount/101 Studios are already rolling on Landman S2. Translation: infrastructure, incentives, and pipeline all go. Meanwhile, Mumbai is center stage (Aug 22–24): At Anime India + AM Summit, global heavyweights land in India: Susumu Fukunaga (The Pokémon Company) and legendary director Tetsurō Araki (Attack on Titan, Death Note). For a market of ~100M anime fans, this is a watershed moment. Numbers that matter (and why they signal a boom): • VFX market set to grow +$15.24B (2025–2029). • PS5 already crossed 50M units—audiences are hungry for premium worlds. • LinkedIn engagement is up 44% YoY—creators who ship smart content win distribution. The productivity kicker? AI-first pipelines. Autodesk just added MotionMaker to Maya—AI-assisted animation that turns shots from weeks to minutes in layout/previs, without sacrificing control. Studios using this get iteration speed and quality. Studios that “get it” are already moving: Warner Bros. inked a 5-film partnership with Indian producers to localize iconic titles for the next billion viewers. What this means for your career/business ✅ Global hiring in animation/VFX is heating up ✅ Remote, cross-border collaboration is the new default ✅ AI skills = unfair advantage in creative ops ✅ Cross-cultural IP is the next growth engine My call: The next 12 months separate adapters from spectators. Will you lead this wave—or watch it from the timeline? Drop your take below. If this hit a nerve, share it with a creator who needs to see the signal. ⬇️ #AnimationRevolution #VFXFuture #CreativeTech #FilmIndustry #GameChanger #Innovation2025 #AnimeIndia #Maya #AIForCreatives

Incidents like this are a strong reminder of how essential real, human QC is — even on rush jobs. A proper review on both sides would have caught this instantly. But in an age of automation and AI-driven workflows, mistakes like these can slip right through and derail all the hard work that should be the focus. Instead of celebrating the restoration or the quality of the show, everyone ends up talking about what should never have been visible in the first place. https://lnkd.in/gkX9SaPf

Texas Boosts Film Incentive to $150 Million a Year in Bid to Lure Production From Regional Rivals - new article: https://lnkd.in/gkDUggnj - plus Texas is the New Frontier for Film Production - articles: https://lnkd.in/gpCJ2B2v - At $150 million a year, Texas will not be in the same league as California, New York & Georgia - But it will occupy a second tier of states, including Louisiana & Pennsylvania, where subsidies are significant enough to consistently attract production

Smart Config Pro is now live on Fab for Unreal Engine. I built this tool to eliminate repetitive setup work when creating interactive tours, especially in large or fast-moving scenes. With Smart Config Pro, you can convert selected meshes into smart, interactive actors in a single step, manage interaction and widget design through one global settings actor, and keep the entire workflow non-destructive. It’s designed for teams working on configurators, arch-viz, virtual production, or any project where consistency and speed really matter. If you’re spending too much time wiring the same logic again and again, this might be useful. Get it on Fab - https://lnkd.in/d2gVet4w

Need unique liquid splatter effects? Simulate them in real-time with LiquiGen & generate variations in seconds, including render passes, 3D mesh and particle exports. This particular setup takes about 5 seconds per variant on an RTX 4090 (so hundreds could be created in less than an hour).

For my connections focused on #motioncapture and/or #metahumans, I thought I’d share a “sneak peak” at what appears to be some major enhancements to #unrealengine’s performance capture and digital human pipelines in UE 5.6. Looks like the MetaHuman Creator system is not only moving into an in-engine tool, but also adding highly customizable body sizing controls and other major advances. The performance capture pipeline also appears to be retooled to be designed around the goal of centralizing live capture workflow, including custom performer->character mapping, session/slate pre-planning and session management. All of this is based on what I’m inferring from the public source code version of #urealengine5.6. The primary source of the best information on all of this will be the talks and developers at #unrealfest in Orlando next month. If you’re going, keep an eye out for me. I’ll be in the audience of all the MetaHuman and performance capture sessions can get into other than when I’m presenting my own lab session on the Motion Design toolset. Hope to see you in Orlando! https://lnkd.in/eaND2wJr

It's more than just a stunning backdrop. This is a fascinating look at how Jordan has strategically built itself into a world-class filmmaking hub, complete with highly skilled local crews and a revamped cash rebate of up to 45%. The article spotlights director Zain Duraie's journey to TIFF, showing how decades of hosting major productions like Dune and The Martian have paved the way for a new generation of local and Arab storytellers. A great read on infrastructure, investment, and the growth of a regional film economy. #FilmFinance #ProductionIncentives #Jordan #FilmIndustry #GlobalFilmmaking #TIFF Entertainment Partners https://lnkd.in/gtneqnGd

AI in Roto & Cleanup: Helpful Assistant, Not a Replacement Lately, we’ve had a few clients asking if prices can be reduced because AI now “does 40% of the work in Roto or Cleanup.” It’s an understandable thought, especially with all the excitement around new tools and automation. But the truth, from someone who’s been in production every single day for the past 15 years, is a little different. AI is definitely a great new companion. It helps us in pre-visualization, concept testing, and sometimes rough automation. But when it comes to final, production-quality output — the kind of work that can go on screen without visible artifacts, flicker, or mismatched tracking — there’s still no AI tool that can do it end to end. What we get instead is a good starting point that often needs double the human attention to fix edges, refine masks, maintain frame consistency, and ensure clean tracks. So while AI speeds up parts of the process, it doesn’t replace the expertise or quality control that real production demands. We’re constantly testing and exploring every major AI tool available, but what we’ve found so far is that these tools are brilliant for ideas and visualization, not yet reliable for final delivery. The reality is that professional Roto, Cleanup, and Tracking still depend on human precision and judgment. AI may assist us, but it doesn’t yet understand the nuance that makes a shot truly production-ready. We’re excited about what’s coming, but until it can match the accuracy and accountability that clients expect, it’s not replacing our artists — it’s just becoming one more tool in their creative kit. At 3D Services India, we see AI as a collaborator, not a shortcut. We’ll keep experimenting and improving, but our promise remains the same — to deliver clean, high-quality results that hold up on screen, no matter what tools are involved. If you’d like to talk about how we balance AI and artistry in real production work, visit us at 3dservicesindia.com or write to us at info@3dservicesindia.com. #VFX #3DServices #AIinVFX #Rotoscoping #Cleanup #Tracking #PostProduction #FilmMaking #VisualEffects #GenerativeAI #CreativeReality
